At this time of year, we tend to overindulge with the chocolate, we’re out and about meeting friends and family; juggling Christmas dos, dinners and drinks, and our skin can suffer for it. Here’s a few top tips on how to sleigh that skincare regime at Christmastime.

Don’t forget to remove your make up

We tend to wear a lot more make up around this time of year due to events, photo opportunities at Christmas light shows and markets, and just generally feeling more festive with a bit of red lipstick.

Make sure to remove your make up before you go to bed to keep your skin looking fresh and avoid breakouts before the big day!

Stay hydrated

It’s that time of year for Prosecco-popping, beers and bucks’ fizz. So, remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water in between a tipple or two! Your skin will thank you for it later.

Use a water-based moisturiser to lock in that hydration for longer too.

Be prepared for that breakout

Our sugar intake can increase over the festive period due to chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. Plus, the shortbread, the fizz and of course, the puddings. This can cause a hormone imbalance, and ultimately, a breakout. Introduce products such as Dermalogica’s Breakout Clearing Booster into your skin regime to reduce inflammation and redness

Did you know an increase in sugar can affect our collagen production? Leading to fine lines, wrinkles and a loss of firmness in the skin. Of course, this won’t happen overnight, but trying out some sugar alternatives in the new year might be worth investigating…

Get a glow, on the go

Invest in a really good serum that has antioxidant properties. This can protect your skin from free radical inducing pollutants such as smoking, drinking, stress and pollution – things that you’ll most likely come into contact with at some point over the holiday period.

Face mask and movie night anyone?

Stick on a classic Christmas film, get into the cosy pyjamas and put on a face mask to restore and revive your skin. A face mask is an ideal pre-event treat for yourself to really give your skin a boost and maintain a fabulous glow. CACI’s hydro-mask is infused with collagen, hyaluronic acid and rose water to deeply nourish and deliver a surge of moisture to the skin that will soothe and calm any skin redness and irritation.

Vitamin D

Hard stuff to come across during winter, but a walk in the fresh air will provide some of the good stuff. Don’t stay cooped up indoors. Get outside and breathe in the crisp, fresh air for a healthy, natural glow.

Book a treatment

In the lead up to the big day, or perhaps after it in that Crimbo Limbo period, why not book yourself a facial to give your skin some TLC? If you’ve dropped all the right hints, you could even have a bijou gift voucher in your stocking this year!

Take some time out for yourself around the Christmas rush and relax and unwind whilst our therapists pamper your skin.
